Are Democrats and the Left Comfortable With Antisemitism in America?

One of the things that America prides itself on is having a First Amendment. The freedom to say what you think and express yourself, no matter who likes or dislikes it. Included in the First Amendment is the freedom to worship as you please. In the early days of America, one of the main reasons for people making the hazardous trip across the Atlantic Ocean was for the freedom to worship as they chose. Christians of every denomination, Jews, and Muslims came here for that freedom. In many cases, they escaped from somewhere to enjoy that freedom. But fast forward 250 years. While political dissent existed in colonial times, chances are, even in their wildest dreams, the Founding Fathers never envisioned political dissent in its present form. To the point where religious freedom for some is compromised.

If you had lived on a desert island for years and suddenly came back to America without knowing anything of the current political climate, one thing you could certainly guess in a hurry would be what party the President belongs to, based on how insane the left is. Oh sure, they were insane during the Biden administration, but it has taken the second term of Donald Trump for them to take the gloves off and show who they really are. Who they are can be summed up in one fact: in less than two months, there have been three major violent antisemitic attacks in the U.S., one of them deadly, and there have also been thousands of minor ones. But the outrage over it is only coming from one side, and it’s not from the Democrats. In fact, it’s because of the Democrats.

Of course, the current antisemitic climate began shortly after the horrific terrorist attack in Israel on October 7, 2023. The terror group Hamas murdered roughly 1,200 Israelis. Their crime: being at a music festival, and, of course, being Jewish. Almost immediately, on college campuses all over the U.S., anti-Israel pro-Hamas protests began. Encampments sprang up all over these campuses, as did “no-go” zones for Jewish students. Students who paid tuition, like every other student, often heavy Ivy-league tuition, to walk around on campus and do things like go to class or the library, were now afraid to leave their dorm rooms. This has gone on in some form or other since that time. Did the Biden administration do anything to tamp down on this? The quick answer is no. If anything, they encouraged it, they gave it a wink and a nod, and just said, “nothing to see here! Move along!” The propaganda arm of the Democrat party, the media, dutifully went along with it.

Because of this willful neglect to do anything about this violent strain of antisemitism, here is a rundown of the last two months. In April, the Pennsylvania Governor’s mansion, currently inhabited by Gov. Josh Shapiro (D), who is Jewish, was firebombed in the early morning hours of April 14. Shapiro, his family, and others had just held a Passover Seder dinner hours before. Thankfully, the Governor, his family, and the family dogs all got out safely. The suspect’s motive for the firebombing: Shapiro’s stance on the war in Gaza. The suspect went on to say that, had he encountered Shapiro the night of the fire, he had planned to attack him with a hammer. Many of Josh Shapiro’s fellow Democrats remained silent.

Then, there was the senseless murder in Washington, D.C., outside the Capital Jewish Museum in May of Yaron Lischinsky, and Sarah Milgrim, both employees of the Israeli Embassy. The suspect shot both victims in the back and then shot Milgrim again as she tried to crawl away. The two were expected to be engaged the following week in Israel. There is no question as to the motive. As the suspect was taken into custody, he shouted, “Free free Palestine.” Democrats were mainly silent.

The latest incident occurred on Sunday in Boulder, Colorado, as elderly Jews gathered to bring awareness to hostages still being held in Gaza, were attacked by a man with a makeshift flamethrower. Twelve people were injured, including an 88-year-old Holocaust survivor, and the suspect, an Egyptian who had overstayed his visa, stated that the motive for the attack was, surprise, he wanted to kill Jews, “had no regrets, and would go back and do it again.” He also yelled, “Free Palestine” while carrying out the attack. This time, however, Democrats have spoken up. But don’t be fooled. It is a giant CYA operation. After all, 2026 is right around the corner.

After almost two years of rationalizing and making excuses for the pro-Hamas crowd, what exactly did Democrats think was going to happen? After looking for any way they could to spin stories about the Israel-Hamas conflict to somehow make the entire thing the fault of Jews, was the media really this naïve to think that all of this angry protest wasn’t going to end up with people being radicalized right here in the U.S., and that it wouldn’t end up with someone getting killed? The problem: for most of these rich, privileged white kids at Harvard, Columbia, or wherever else, this is a game. They think it’s cool to dress up in their Palestinian head garb and parade around chanting “from the river to the sea” when they have no clue which river and which sea they are talking about. At colleges and universities where the pro-Hamas protests are still happening, it’s just the new cool way to pick up chicks.

The other problem: for others, namely Jews, it’s not a game. It’s a very real threat and very real terror they feel. To hear that it is dangerous to be a Jew in America in 2025 should hurt every American. Because that is not supposed to happen here. But Democrats have unleashed this monster with their inattention, and sadly, now, even if they were to speak up, they cannot stop it from happening again.
