One of the ideals that Americans have strived for the most is for a society that treats everyone, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or any other factor, the same. We haven’t always lived up to that ideal, but we have worked towards it from the day America was founded. Because of that hard work, American societal norms have changed over the last two centuries of our existence for the better. Most Americans, no matter what their background, believe America is the one place in the world where, if you are willing to work hard, you can achieve anything you want. Unfortunately, however, there are some whose goal is to keep America trapped in those dark days when black Americans and others were second-class citizens. If they can just keep Americans believing that it is perpetually 1956, they can keep making money from it. It is these few who have created the race industry in America.
But on Monday, a near-death blow may have been dealt to that industry when former Marine Daniel Penny was found not guilty of negligent homicide in the death of Jordan Neely. In May of 2023, Neely, homeless, addicted to drugs, and mentally ill, boarded a New York subway train and began to harass and threaten other riders. Penny subdued Neely in a chokehold, and several other passengers helped subdue him until police arrived. What did Daniel Penny get for his trouble, trying to defend women and children who felt threatened and were certain Neely was going to harm them? Being charged with manslaughter and reckless homicide. Penny’s chokehold did not kill Jordan Neely; he was still breathing as Paramedics tended to him and police took him away. He died later. But it was enough for loyal race industry foot soldier, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, to suit up and charge Penny.
Witness after witness, both black and white, took the stand and told the courtroom how frightened they were of Neely, who boarded the subway yelling that he wasn’t afraid to die and he wasn’t afraid to go to jail. He also yelled, “Somebody’s going to die today!” One passenger, Alethea Gittings, said she thanked Penny for stepping in to subdue Neely. But the fact that Penny is white and Jordan Neely was black was just too tempting for the race industry, even though there was absolutely no evidence to support that race was a factor and that Daniel Penny was not charged with a hate crime. But as the race industry hustlers began piling on, something else happened, too.
More and more people were not afraid to call the race industry hustlers out for what they saw was, yes, a clear case of discrimination. But not the way the race industry saw it. About a month after the incident between Daniel Penny and Jordan Neely, there was another death in a subway car. Jordan Williams was on the subway with his girlfriend when Devictor Quedraogo boarded the train. As with Neely, Quedraogo began harassing passengers, including Williams’s girlfriend. The details are sketchy, but Williams stabbed Quedraogo. The difference, Jordan Williams is black, and no charges were brought in the case. Did you hear about this case? Did it make national headlines? No. Why is that?
After Monday’s verdict in Penny’s favor, Black Lives Matter (BLM) agitators were out in full force in front of the Courthouse, calling for “justice” and “black vigilantes.” A small group of protesters took to the streets of New York on Monday night, but it was nothing big enough and violent enough to warrant TV networks cutting into regular broadcasting to cover it. Why is that? Has BLM lost their mojo? Have they lost the ability to get people ginned up enough to go out and riot and destroy property? Granted, this is not a case of a white cop and a black suspect. That is BLM’s trademark, but why isn’t there more protesting in the streets? BLM has been eagerly waiting for George Floyd 2.0 for four years. Why can’t they seem to make that happen?
Could it be that Americans are just getting sick and tired of identity politics? You would certainly think Democrats and the left would be. It is one of the things that cost them the 2024 Presidential election. Donald Trump got a bigger percentage of the black vote than any Republican in 48 years. Black Americans, along with the rest of the nation, experienced four years of the Biden-Harris economy; they experienced soaring crime rates, they experienced the invasion of illegal aliens coming across the Southern border. Sadly, some amount of racism is always going to exist in America for no other reason than the fact that America is inhabited by imperfect human beings. Unfortunately for BLM, the Biden administration gave black Americans the same things to worry about as everyone else. The oppression Olympics has sunk way to the bottom of their list.
What will become of Daniel Penny now? Will he be able to work, or go to school, or have a social life like anyone else without constantly looking over his shoulder in case some aspiring BLM wannabe is auditioning for their leaders? Can he possibly go on about his life as before? That might not yet be known. Surely, there are plenty of places in America that would welcome him with open arms. But it appears that all of America has had about enough of BLM.
