Hope for the Future
As we all get older, we tend to act more like our parents. There is the turning out of lights after we leave a room, there is the falling asleep on the couch at 9 p.m., and there is always the inevitable conclusion that our music was way better than that crap kids listen to today. I mean, what the hell is that anyway?! This usually leads to comparing our own behavior to that of the current generation of young people. There is without a doubt, universal gratitude that the internet came along after we were done doing stupid stuff.
The thing is, the things that we hear about today that go on beginning at the elementary school level, really would have been unheard of back in the day. Maybe we see it more in a world where you should always assume that you are on camera being recorded, and then your antics, be they funny or profoundly stupid, will be posted to social media. Children as young as five or six years old destroying classrooms because they didn’t get their way or were told “no.” These little darlings turn into the high school classroom, or sports events, or store or restaurant brawls you can find in infinite numbers on YouTube or TikTok. It is the result of little Johnny getting his participation trophy and having to do absolutely nothing to earn it.
Now, little Johnny is a student at Columbia or UCLA or any number of colleges or universities that are enjoying pro-Hamas protests on their campuses. Spoiled entitled pro-Hamas brats chanting things like, “From the river to the sea, Palestine (no such place) will be free!” But don’t ask little Johnny which river and which sea this is referring to. Because little Johnny has no clue. To tell you the truth, he isn’t even quite sure why he is there. He just knows that his commie political science professor told him America sucks and he will get extra credit if he shows up. These protests are now officially riots, and the presidents of these woke indoctrination centers otherwise known as colleges and universities, are too afraid of offending anyone to shut them down. The governors of these mostly blue state riots are too afraid of the pro-Hamas mob, and Joe Biden does not want to offend the pro-Hamas wing of the Democrat party because he needs their votes in November. So, the riots will roll merrily along.
But sometimes though, even amid insanity, you see something good. College fraternities very often get a bad rap. Full disclosure, I have been around a few, and I can tell you that yes, it is a bit stereotypical. There are a lot of parties, a lot of beer drinking, much of it out of a contraption called a beer bong (I only did it once), another beverage affectionately known as “Jet fuel” served from a lined trash can, and weekend gatherings designated as “cheap wine weekend,” the only rule being the wine you brought to the party could not cost over three dollars. The details of said parties are sketchy. But on Wednesday, as pro-Hamas protests broke out on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, the pro-terrorist brats attempted to take down the American flag and replace it with the pro-Hamas Palestinian flag. That’s when the brothers of Pi Kappa Phi stepped in. The PKP boys made sure that Old Glory didn’t touch the ground. They were pelted by debris, water bottles, and taunts from the pro-terrorist crowd. The flag was later put back in its rightful place while students chanted “USA USA!”
A picture of the men of Pi Kappa Phi, standing together, making sure the flag was not disrespected, has gone viral. While Americans are being bombarded with images of ungrateful entitled and coddled college students, the Pi Kappa Phi brothers have given the word “fraternity” a whole new meaning. One of those young men, Guillermo Estrada, is the son of immigrants, and the Estradas are a military family. Guillermo tweeted, “My parents started a new life in the United States, a country that has helped them flourish and raise two kids. I grew up in a military community and saw firsthand the sacrifices they make. I will not stand for the disrespect of these protesters.”
The best part of this story might just be this, a GoFundMe page has been started for the men of Pi Kappa Phi. The reason, to say thanks by throwing them the mother of all frat parties. The GoFundMe page says, “These boys…no, men, of the UNC-Chapel Hill Pi Kappa Phi gave the best to America and now they deserve the best. Help us raise funds to throw this frat the party they deserve, a party worthy of the boat-shoed Broletariat who did their country proud.” As of this writing, more than $400,000 has been raised for what promises to be the party of the century.
Americans so often complain about today’s young people. They are lazy, entitled, and don’t want to work for anything. The thought of these leftist babies being the future leaders of the country is frightening enough. Thankfully, there are young people like the Pi Kappa Phi brothers. Their unbridled patriotism has been the most refreshing thing to see in quite a while in the disaster that is Joe Biden’s America. They have assured us that not everyone under 30 is listening to the anti-America indoctrination that starts in public schools very early on and that yes, there is quite a lot of hope for the younger generation.
So, to the men of Pi Kappa Phi, thank you for your courage, your bravery, and your love of country. Throw a party that will forever define the term “frat party.”
