The Attack on Israel - Some Random Thoughts
Like many other Americans, I have watched images from Israel on television. I am a journalist; I do words for a living. So, imagine my frustration at having no words for what I am witnessing and hearing about in Israel. On Saturday, Hamas launched an attack on Israel, the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust. I won’t try to keep up with the death toll, or the number of women, children, and elderly people this race of subhuman individuals have raped, tortured, and left to die. How have women, children, and grandparents wronged Hamas?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised the mother of all retaliations. Personally, I can’t wait. He should have done it a long time ago. Turn them into a parking lot. I look forward to popping some popcorn and watching the entire glorious end of Hamas play out on television. That is a reality show I can get behind. While we are at it, can we annihilate Hezbollah as an added bonus? On a personal note, to Mr. Netanyahu, you certainly know sir, better than I, that these people follow no laws or rules or Geneva conventions. I will tell you what I tell my countrymen who happen to be Republicans and try to get along with Democrats because basically, it’s the same principle, stop being nice. Do what you must.
I would also, Mr. Prime Minister, on behalf of the sane Americans still left, like to apologize for our non-existent President. He is in a difficult position. He is forced by his office, unlike the rest of his sorry Party, to pretend that he cares what happens to your country, and he is forced to do it in the beginning stages (maybe, could be moderate stages), of dementia. Whether he became so indifferent to the plight of Israel over his 50 years of simply occupying a chair in Washington, but not ever really doing anything, except colluding with segregationists, and as we now know, every foreign country that would do business with his corrupt family, or if it was at the foot of Barack Obama, is unknown. What is known, however, is that Israel is clearly on Joe Biden’s list of things he doesn’t give a rip about. That list would also include things like the U.S. southern border, the people of East Palestine Ohio, and the First Amendment to our Constitution.
Joe Biden may have more blood on his hands than any other American President. But he shares those bloody hands with the rest of his administration full of inept, incompetent buffoons, who literally have no idea what goes on in the real world outside of their cushy Washington bubble. As the people of Israel were picked off and slaughtered one by one, Joe Biden attended a barbeque on Sunday. Before that, he was eager to hand over $6 billion to Iran, the largest state-sponsor of terrorism in the world, and Iran promptly helped engineer the massacre. Biden administration officials are falling over each other to get to a camera to say that there is no way the Iranians took that money and did what they do best with it, kill Jews and Americans. That money is strictly for medicine and blankets for the people of Iran, or some such drivel. Just one question, ever move your money from one account to another? But I’m sure the Iranians did none of that…
And while we are on the subject of killing Americans, as of this writing, 25 Americans are dead, and it is rumored that more are being held hostage. Just one more question, who will be held accountable for that? Have we come to the point where Americans are indiscriminately killed, and no one pays a price for it? Does anyone think that Joe Biden is going to do anything about it? We already know that when it comes to dead Americans, all Joe Biden can manage, is looking at his watch. What about Americans being held hostage? Should we know what Joe Biden was willing to do in 1979 when Iranians held Americans hostage? Might be somewhat helpful now.
There are plenty of other questions too. Israeli intelligence is the best in the world, second to none. Why did they not see this coming? Why didn’t American or British intelligence have an ear to the ground? We may know why the Americans weren’t paying attention, they are busy hunting Trump supporters, because they, along with climate change, are even more dangerous than nuclear war and terrorism you know. We should probably ask, is there more to come? Will China feel emboldened to invade Taiwan? If you are Xi Jinping, you see everyone’s attention focused somewhere else, and it must get you thinking.
When things like this occur, we usually hear world leaders come out with statements. In the U.S., we have heard from President Trump, and President Biden popped out long enough to get through a prepared statement, then went ghost for three days before making any more statements about Israel. It only took three more days, but former President Barack Obama finally got around to issuing a statement about Israel. Odd, why did it take so long? Maybe it is because he really has never been able to hide his feelings about Israel, and now that he is the former President, it isn’t like he has to hide it anymore.
Just in case no one has realized it yet, we are actively watching history repeating itself. Think 1979, Jimmy Carter, showing up on TV long enough to tell everyone to crank their thermostat down to 68 degrees and put on a sweater. Don’t like it? Too bad, that “crisis of confidence,” it’s all your fault. The economy was a mess, the world was on fire, the Soviet Union had invaded Afghanistan, and oh yeah, Americans were being held hostage in the Middle East. Sound familiar yet?
Of two things we must be confident. That Israel will prevail over its enemies, and that history will continue to repeat itself, making the 2024 presidential election, exactly like 1980.
