They Will Not Stop
You might have thought that the political assassination of Charlie Kirk earlier this month would have made the entire nation, whether you are left or right, stop dead in their tracks and have the reaction of stunned 12-year-olds when the shaky bike jump ramp goes awry and little Johnny is lying in the street with a broken arm or leg. Then there was the fact that anyone and their mother could pull up the gruesome footage of the actual murder of Kirk from several different websites. That in itself tells you just how much human life is no longer valued and treated like a do-over in a video game.
Charlie Kirk’s memorial service was unlike anything the conservative movement has ever seen. It was a microcosm of the millions of conservatives all over the nation who have been empowered not to take the endless stream of BS that emanates from Democrats and the left anymore. But make no mistake. The same people who celebrated the murder of another human being have no intention of stopping their assault on anyone who dares to disagree with them. They are not going anywhere anytime soon.
The latest example of left-wing insanity comes from the Office of the Michigan Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson. On the eve of Charlie Kirk’s murder, Benson was telling her online followers that they “need to turn down the hateful rhetoric and move toward a new commitment to civility.” This would be an appropriate sentiment for someone who is running for Governor in 2026, which she is. So, imagine the surprise when someone tweeted out a photo…in Michigan, mind you…of the back vanity license plate of a pickup truck which read “86TRMP.” Way to turn down the hateful rhetoric there, Secretary of State Benson. This catchy license plate also presents a problem for Benson and her office, because it violates two different Michigan state vehicle codes, which prohibit offensive language and messages on license plates. What sort of action, if any, will be taken against Benson’s office is unclear. Sounds more like a job for the Secret Service. But in Michigan, apparently, all’s fair in the name of the resistance.
Rock n Roll has always been about rebellion and giving the middle finger to “the man.” If there weren’t sex and drugs, there would be no rock n roll. Then, there is the heavy metal band Gwar. Last Saturday, they were performing at the “Riot Fest” in Chicago. During their show, a mannequin dressed like Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, wearing a black baseball cap and a “DOGE” T-shirt, was beheaded by one of the band members with a sword, complete with fake blood shooting out of the mannequin’s neck. But the Gwar boys weren’t done yet. They also staged a fake assassination of Donald Trump. Granted, this is not the first fake Trump murder. There was Kathy Griffin’s bloody head, and 2017’s Central Park “Shakespeare in the Park” production of Julius Caesar, in which a Trump look-alike was stabbed to death. But wait, there’s more. On Wednesday, a gunman opened fire on an ICE detention facility in Dallas, killing one detainee and injuring two others before taking his own life.
All these displays are disgusting in their own right, but we are a little more than two weeks out from the public execution of Charlie Kirk for his political beliefs. And the hard truth is, the left is not going to stop. Each time Trump, or Vice President JD Vance, anyone from Trump’s cabinet, or even the head of the ICE facility, tells the left to knock it off, it just empowers them more. They are the ones who have been blathering on about civil war, but at this point, you have to think that it is something they actually want. What other conclusion could you come to?
The problem, and sorry, it is a problem, is that too many on the right still think that we can talk and negotiate with these people. Does that mean that we go out and match them violent incident for violent incident? No. But at what point, instead of being on the defensive and doing things like arming conservative speakers on college campuses with presidential levels of security, do we get the hint that it’s time to go on the offensive? When they start the fight, we shouldn’t waste a nanosecond in defending ourselves. After all, like that Facebook meme says, we are the ones with all the guns, and we know which restroom to use. Bring it to them and make them own it.
In a perfect world, we would be able to sit down and reason with them. Talk of “unity” is nice, and it would be a great thing if it could happen. But after all of this, is there anyone who really believes that is possible anymore? Donald Trump will be in office for three more years. It’s almost too dangerous to ask how much more of this will go on. And perhaps even more dangerous is the thought of how many average citizens will put their lives in danger just for saying what they think? Public figures like Charlie Kirk are one thing, but what happens when it is John Q. Public?
Americans have always engaged in heated political debate. But that is not what this is. Conservatives had better get prepared for anything, because the left is not going to stop.
