Top 5 Things on Republican's Christmas Wish List
Well, it’s that time of year. For those of us old enough to remember, we have circled all the items in the back of the Sears or JC Penney catalog. For you youngsters, kind of a pseudo-online shopping. And now we patiently await the big guy, no not Joe Biden, the original big guy, Santa Claus himself to somehow fit himself down the chimney, if you had one, and leave all the riches requested, in exchange for a lite snack of milk and cookies. For kids like me with no chimney, we just made sure the back door was unlocked. This year may be a tad bit brighter than the last few. In a few short weeks, Republicans will take charge in the House of Representatives. It wasn’t all we had hoped for, but that is a topic for another day. So, we will work with the hand we were dealt. Running the show in the House isn’t anything to sneeze at, if done properly. As we get close to Christmas, what are some of the things that might be at the top of a conservative Republican wish list?
Number one might be to begin an investigation into whether the President of the United States is compromised by the Chinese Communist Party. Joe Biden, on numerous occasions, emphatically denied ever speaking to his son Hunter about any of his shady overseas business deals including those in China. We now know that is a lie. The photos of Hunter and Joe Biden with Hunter’s foreign business partners makes it a provable lie. Now, should such an investigation go forward what would the result be? While an investigation might be a feel-good move on the part of Republicans, and certainly no one is saying not to initiate investigations, how will a Biden Department of Justice deal with subpoenas issued by Republicans? Would they enforce them? Would they hold people who ignore them in contempt of Congress? What would the consequences be if Joe Biden is found to be compromised? He might be impeached but with a Democrat majority in the Senate most certainly would not be convicted.
Number two might be another investigation. This one into how Big Tech, Big mainstream media, the FBI, and the Democrat Party colluded to rig, yes, let’s call it what it is, rig, American elections. When the free speech of Americans is stifled, there is no other description. The first amendment rights of ordinary Americans cannot be allowed to be infringed upon in this fashion ever again. How was it done, how long did it go on, and who were the key players involved. In the case of those heading up the speech suppression operations at Facebook, Twitter, and any other place this might be happening, these are private citizens. Can they not be held accountable for their violations in some way? This is what happens when you do not teach younger generations the importance of the Constitution and its contents.
The House of Representatives may just be one tentative hold on one branch of the federal government. But it is the branch that holds the purse strings. At number three may be, actually being committed to the “commitment to America” that House Republicans have drawn up and made their centerpiece to getting elected in 2022. Things like real solutions to 40-year high inflation, a skyrocketing national debt, and soaring gas and food prices. This also includes things like pro-growth tax policy, increasing wages, and fighting the massive crime wave that has hit most large American cities, all things that help small businesses succeed. A commitment to securing the southern border while over 2 million illegal immigrants have crossed it to enter the U.S.is also included. This commitment must be made because the federal government refuses to do so because, again, let’s call it what it is, Democrats believe they are importing a new crop of consistent Democrat voters. Getting America back to energy independence, and not being energy reliant on bad foreign actors who are not friends of America is also on the list.
Government being accountable to the people is no doubt on many Americans’ wish lists. Number four should not just apply to Democrats and their ongoing inanities; Americans want all their elected officials held accountable, including Republicans. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was all on board with Senate Democrats as they passed a massive $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill before splitting town this week. House Republicans are incensed that McConnell is signing on to the bill with seemingly little to no thought of how he is cutting the legs out from underneath an incoming GOP-majority House, giving them no opportunity to negotiate a better bill. But are they really surprised? This is the same Mitch McConnell that essentially sabotaged GOP senate races during the midterm election because the candidates were supported by Donald Trump. Soon-to-be House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has threatened any Republican Senators who vote for the bill that any legislation they introduce will be dead on arrival in the House.
Number five and certainly not least of all, and really, maybe first, the American people want Republicans with some coconuts, with a spine. They want Republicans that will stop being nice. They want Republicans who will once and for all stop caring that Democrats and the media, one and the same, will like them. They want Republicans that will stop caving to Democrats because they think if they are nice, Democrats will stop stabbing them in the back and say nice things about them on the Sunday shows. Americans want them to finally realize that none of those things are going to happen. Stand up, be men, and women, and collectively, have a bit of testicular fortitude.
Republicans have a golden opportunity to roll back some of the disastrous results of the Biden administration, and to keep any more Democrat boondoggle ideas designed to destroy America at bay. All we want is for them to actually do it.
