Since Donald Trump came down the escalator in Trump Tower in 2015, Democrats have been at their wits’ end as to how to deal with him. Here was a guy who was a billionaire yet could relate to normal everyday average Americans with ease. He talked like them and somehow knew where they were coming from. The more successful he has become in politics, the more they hate him. Through impeachments, indictments, and assassination attempts, Democrats continued to assure us that there was no way Donald Trump would ever see the inside of the Oval Office ever again. He would be wearing orange and see the inside of a jail cell.
Fast forward to Trump’s Tuesday night address to a joint session of Congress to recap the first six weeks of his second term, you know, the term that wasn’t supposed to happen. This will be Trump’s final four years in office. When he is done, he will retire to play golf and enjoy his grandchildren. What will Democrats be doing, if they even still exist, still be stuck on hating Donald Trump, that’s where. Proof that both of those things are entirely possible was on full display Tuesday night. Even before the speech, there were stories of Democrats doing things like bringing empty egg cartons to bring attention to high egg prices as if they were all headed to a midnight showing of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and needed all the proper accessories, instead of an address by the President of the United States in the House Chamber. Other party favors promised were noise makers and signs. Very mature Democrats. Stay classy.
As soon as Rep. Al Green (D-TX) was bounced out of the Chamber by House Speaker Mike Johnson and Vice President JD Vance, you knew things would spiral out of control from there. Green was later asked about his outburst. He said it was because “he (Trump) needs to save Medicaid.” Trump has said repeatedly he will not touch Medicare and Medicaid. Whatever Al, go file some more articles of impeachment. That will make you feel better.
After Green was escorted out, things seemed to quiet down a bit. Trump was able to outline some of his biggest achievements during his first month and a half in office. The southern border is all but shut down, and Trump has signed executive orders banning diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and the teaching of critical race theory (CRT) in public schools and banning biological men from playing in women’s sports. Even though things got a bit more subdued, Democrats had brought ping pong paddles and white boards with them, with messages like “false,” and “Musk Steals,” referring to Elon Musk and DOGE. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) brought a white board where she had written “Start by paying your taxes.” Apparently, Tlaib had mistakenly thought Hunter Biden would be attending the speech.
So, things got quiet, but that was the problem. Democrats got quiet for all the wrong reasons. Trump talked about the passage of the Laken Riley Act, named after the Georgia nursing student, brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant, and pointed out her mother and sister sitting in the gallery. Republicans gave them a standing ovation. Democrats sat silent. He signed a proclamation naming a wildlife preserve in Texas after Jocelyn Nungaray, 12 years old, also murdered at the hands of illegal immigrants. Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis Nungaray, was in attendance and acknowledged by Trump. Republicans gave her a standing ovation. Democrats sat silent. Trump pointed out Jason Hartley, a high school student whose great-grandfather, grandfather, and father all served in the military. His father also served as a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy until his death in 2018. Jason’s dream; to attend West Point. He had applied and certainly was a great candidate, with a 4.46 grade point average, and a six-letter athlete. Trump informed him he had been accepted. By now, you can probably see a pattern forming and know what happened next.
Then, there was 13-year-old brain cancer survivor DJ Daniel. DJ’s lifelong dream; to be a police officer. He has been made an honorary officer by several departments. Trump announced he would become an honorary Secret Service Agent. Secret Service Director Sean Curran then presented DJ with his Secret Service badge. DJ hugged Curran, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the place. Except, there was. Again, you know what happened next. So, just so we are all on the same page, Democrats, all of them in attendance, could not bring themselves to stand up and applaud for a 13-year-old brain cancer survivor.
Needless to say, in the aftermath of the speech, social media has not been kind to Democrats. They probably have no clue as to why. It’s one thing to have disagreements over policy issues. Fine, that’s what Congress is for, to have disagreements over things and hash them out. But when you cannot support someone like DJ Daniel, something is seriously wrong and vacant within you, and guess what, now the whole world knows that. The Party that loves to portray themselves as the champions of compassion and kindness is anything but. They are completely void of compassion and quite frankly, at this point, are just downright evil. The best part, they also have no clue they just cut the 2026 GOP campaign ads for them. Recently, one of my RedState.com coworkers said something to the effect that if Democrats continue down this road, they will eventually become just a regional party, found only on the East and West coasts. I say get out of the way and let them.
