Ever since former President Donald Trump came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower in 2015, it has been the mission of Democrats and the left to take him out by any means necessary. Try as they might, Trump has been the “Teflon Don,” ducking everything that has been thrown at him. And it hasn’t just been Trump himself. The entire Trump family has endured lies, slander, besmirchment, and a level of hatred that can only be described as pathological. While there are few conservatives who will argue with Trump’s record as president, booming economy, low unemployment, low illegal immigration, and respect and a healthy fear from abroad. Many have speculated, if they, the Democrats, never-Trumpers, the deep state, whoever “they” is, had just given him a chance, just how much more could have been accomplished for this nation. But it was never going to happen. That level of hatred is something that few rational people can get their heads around, and unfortunately, it is not going anywhere in 2024.
Right now, fourteen months away from Election Day, Donald Trump is far and away the front runner for the Republican nomination. A Real Clear Politics average poll has him at 33 points. Woven in between running a presidential campaign, he will be forced to endure legal battles as well. It is pretty common knowledge that those battles are part of the strategy to get rid of Donald Trump. Trump supporters know exactly what the legal battles are designed to do, and it will not deter them. But let’s play a little game of “what if?” Because sometimes it is the “what if,” that makes things interesting, and a little bit more clear.
As stated, currently, the GOP nomination is Trump’s to lose. But what if he did? What if, for some other reason, he had to drop out of the race? At 77, many of those close to him who are half his age say it is hard to keep up with him, and he seems to be in great shape. But with getting older often comes with health issues. So, let’s say, that for whatever reason, Trump is out of the race. Does anyone truly believe that Trump derangement syndrome just goes away? Not on your life. Whoever becomes the eventual GOP nominee automatically has that derangement transferred to him or her. Trump derangement syndrome instantly becomes DeSantis derangement syndrome, Ramaswamy derangement syndrome, Pence, or Scott derangement syndrome. A good part of the reason for that, regardless of the reasons Trump would have bowed out of the race, Democrats and the left will not hesitate to take full credit for the rub out, and because, as the great Rush Limbaugh always reminded us, they are the drive by media. Should they ever be done spraying metaphorical bullets at Trump, they will move on to whoever is plugged into that position. How would the rest of the pack hold up? Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is more than used to taking media ammo. It is an occupational hazard as a governor. He may hold up the best. As a Senator, Tim Scott is well aware of who and what the media are, and as a black conservative, is also used to smacking back the extra special dirt the media reserves for black conservatives. Vivek Ramaswamy is a bit of an unknown, but we will revisit him in a moment. The rest, whose support will be divided up from among the GOP establishment and never-Trumpers, would fold like lawn chairs, and spend the majority of their time apologizing for imaginary positions on issues the media would assign to them.
But, as usual, Democrats and the left have never grasped the long-term effects of Trump Derangement Syndrome. And what they fail to remember, is that they have been being watched since 2015. Not only have the American people watched the crazy train of pathological behavior hurled at Donald Trump and his family, but those who have other political aspirations beyond where and what they are now, including 2024 GOP candidates. They have had front row seats to the onslaught and should have the best and most prepared responses based on their own observations. The best part however, Democrats and the left, are entirely predictable. Ron DeSantis has a beautiful, accomplished wife, who the left-wing media has already started in on, and beautiful kids. It is a picture of a nice-looking family. But what he has done in Florida will be falsely presented, ramped up and pounced upon, like the “don’t say gay” bill, which actually does not say the word “gay” anywhere in it, and the recent ridiculous accusations that Florida history curriculums will teach that slaves benefited from their enslavement. Vivek Ramaswamy may get the next largest dose. He is in the outsider position Trump was in 2016. He is a businessman, entrepreneur, and best-selling author who has never held political office. A quick perusal of his campaign website includes a picture of Ramaswamy, his wife who is a doctor, and two cute-as-a-bug young sons. As the son of Indian immigrants, if Democrats feel like they need to drag it out, Ramaswamy may get the you-are-the-son-of-immigrants-why-aren’t-you-a-Democrat treatment. But because they have made sure the whole world has seen Trump Derangement Syndrome, Ramaswamy would be ready for it, and no doubt it would be a lot of fun to watch him filet and dismantle it. What would maybe be a mere level up from Trump Derangement Syndrome, would be Scott Derangement Syndrome. The afore-mentioned treatment of black conservatives by the media would be on steroids, and it would be hard for the media to hide their absolute hatred and contempt of a black Republican presidential nominee like Tim Scott. Would Scott be equipped to take it on? Could be another unknown. Any other candidates would be fish food if Trump Derangement Syndrome were foisted upon them, and the media knows it.
Democrats and the media are convinced that, at some point, Trump Derangement Syndrome will bring them a win. But they have shown their hand, and it will come back to bite them in the end.
