Happy Labor Day everyone! This week’s Discussion of the week is a fun look back. In celebration of hard working Americans, let’s talk about, what was your first job? How much did you earn? Did you love it or hate it? What did it teach you?
I’ll go first. My first job. was in a movie theatre. I worked 3 or 4 nights a week dishing out popcorn, candy, and drinks. This was in 1982, I was a junior in high school and I think my rate of pay was $3.35 an hour. When I got my first paycheck, I asked my dad what the difference between net and gross was. He explained it to me, looked over his glasses at me and said, “Remember that when you vote.” I absolutely do!
Thank you to all hard working Americans everywhere for doing what you do!
